Shot types - a shot is a series of frames that run for an uninterrupted period of time
- ELS - extreme long shot, complete view of a setting, to emphasize an expanse of space

- LS - long shot, closer than ELS but still shows complete image

- MS - medium shot, on a human body, gestures, expressions and physical appearance

- CU - close up, shows details in the subject, maybe just the persons face

- BCU - big close up, on the face, shows the social triangle (two eyes and mouth)

- ECU - extreme close up, only reveals certain characteristics and emotions

Camera Angles - marks the specific location at which the camera is placed to take a shot. A scene may be shot from several camera angles simultaneously.
- High - positioned high above and over a subject to emphasize the overall smallness within the shot

- Low - positioned low on the vertical axis, anywhere below the eye line, looking up

- Eye level - when the level of the camera is placed at the same height as the eyes of the characters in the frame.

- Oblique - gives a tilted perspective
